Why are we re-releasing our How to Hire report?

We first released this report at the end of 2022 to allow businesses to get ahead of the recruitment curve and beat the competition for top talent.

There have been many developments in the marketing, product, e-commerce, and bids recruitment market since then, so we're re-launching this report with the latest information so employers know what to expect in H2 and can plan accordingly.

To make impactful hires by the end of the year, it’s important to move quickly and confidently.

If you haven't already hired the team you need to achieve your plans by the end of the year, now is the time.

The average recruitment process - from writing the job description to the new hire's first day - can last anywhere between two and a half months to six months. Plus, at this time of year, there are pre-arranged internal and external holiday plans to contend with. This could complicate interview processes and extend notice periods.

It’s also important to keep in mind that it will take time before you see an ROI from your new hire, with training periods lasting anywhere between four and twelve weeks. This leaves employers with little time to hire impactful employees.

With advice from our specialist recruitment consultants, our report will help you plan accordingly and make those crucial hires before the end of the year.

Adapting to a new recruitment market

Following an unusually frantic hiring period where candidates were flooded with job offers, we have seen the market normalise this year.

While it might be tempting to think that it’s easier to hire this year, there are new challenges that employers are facing, including:

  1. The cost-of-living crisis
  2. An increased number of applications
  3. Limited hiring resources
  4. Fast-approaching deadlines

If you’re facing these recruitment struggles, our report can help. Updated for H2, our How to Hire report gives actionable takeaways for employers to secure top talent in this new recruitment market.

Salaries maintain their all-time high

As a result of such a frantic hiring period, our data showed a 20% increase in salaries between 2021 and 2022. Now, we’re seeing that salaries have stagnated at this new, higher rate.

If you haven’t hired recently, it’s important to benchmark salaries to ensure that you’re offering prospective candidates a realistic compensation package. We would also recommend assessing your current employees’ salaries to ensure that you’re paying them a fair wage in line with the current market.

In the current economic environment, candidates are not willing to move for a lower salary. In fact, according to LinkedIn, compensation continues to be the highest priority for candidates searching for a new job.

To support employers in developing their hiring strategies, this report includes all of the latest information around compensation. Covering expected salary bands and benefits across all industries and areas of expertise, from marketing to product management, e-commerce to bids and proposals.
