3Search have long been supporters of Beam - a wonderful organisation helping homeless people and refugees find their feet.

During our partnership so far, we’ve donated over £45,000 to Beam which has helped to change the lives of over 600 people.

For example, we've helped Ukrainian refugee, Olena, raise money to take part in an accounting course, and start building a life in the UK. Sadly, people like Olena often lack a support network and the confidence to move forward with their lives.

This month, we have raised a total of £2,150 towards Beam. We have helped Marcin, Latisha and Ali get one step closer to the life they have always dreamed of. Read their full stories below...

Marcin's story

Things have been difficult for Marcin over the last couple of years. He was homeless on the street for a long time, but has now found temporary accommodation. He would love to have a stable job and have everything in place for the future.

Marcin would love to find a job where he can learn more and progress, and is open to a large variety of roles. Working in kitchens and cooking lovely food is especially fun for Marcin, and is something that he has previous experience in.

To have a proper stable job and a place to live would honestly be the best thing. I'd love to be able to have a place of my own one day. It is so wonderful to get support like this, I'm so grateful.

Latisha's story

When COVID happened, Latisha became homeless and ended up staying in a hostel with terrible, uncomfortable conditions. It became a very isolating environment for the 2 years. When she eventually moved into her own accommodation, she was having trouble with her neighbours being disruptive.

Starting the job hunt is something that Latisha now feels ready for. The dream is to have a balanced life, with a routine, being around friends and family and having somewhere to call home.

Latisha would like to work with children because she believes that the early years are the most important part to a child's development, and would like to help children to get the best start in life.

In the future, I would like to open my own care centre or nursery. The more experience and knowledge I can gain, will help me in becoming that one step closer to achieving this dream.

Ali's story

Long term, the dream for Ali is to be a crane operator. Having worked on construction sites a lot in the past, he has a good understanding of lots of different roles in the industry. He sees how the crane operates and sometimes just watches them and the way that they manoeuvre, and that takes a lot of skill.

Ali finds it really inspiring and motivating being able to focus on a goal, alongside the adrenaline rush that comes with it which is exciting. The first step to becoming a crane driver is to do telescopic handler training, which Beam can support with this.

Life has been a bit all over the place over the last couple of years for Ali, but he is very thankful for the support received so far.

I'd love to continue to my journey and get back into a stable job and then eventually a stable home.
