Throughout August we have continued to work alongside the crowdfunding platform Beam to support homeless people across the country as they look for stable work.

The donations we make every time we place one of our candidates into a new role have made a real difference during our partnership with Beam.

Take a look below at this month’s amazing accomplishments with Beam.

Our Impact

We are thrilled to announce that we raised £1,600 throughout the month of August, which now sets our total donation to Beam at £35,200! We are super proud of this number, and we would not have been able to reach it without our incredibly supportive clients and recruiters who put in the hard work to make this possible.

This is part of a continuous relationship we have with Beam that we are constantly developing and making stronger. Seeing how many people we have been able to help since the very start means a great deal to us.

Catherine, Maria and Martin are three of the many people who have largely benefited from our donations this past month, all of them a huge step closer to reaching their various goals.

It is very rewarding that we are able to contribute to and help drastically improve the lives of the homeless people within our community as they deserve to live the lives they dream of just like everybody else. To see the impact these donations have made, see below some stories from various individuals who we have supported in August.

Catherine’s Story

Having moved away from a very stable life in Nigeria, Catherine and her family were finding it a huge struggle to afford rent, with only 20 hours a week free to work new sources of income.

With Catherine’s husband studying full-time, alongside having to afford childcare for her three young children, a flexible job in customer service would be her ideal situation. Catherine has had plenty of experience in customer service back in Nigeria and even ran her own businesses at various points in her life.

Some lifelong ambitions of Catherine’s include owning her own nursery, travelling the world with her kids, and having a financially stable life again. With the kind support and donations through Beam, these goals might be very close to becoming reality.

Maria’s Story

A few years ago, when Maria moved to the UK from Spain, she fell into nannying and childcare and absolutely loved it. She describes herself as a caring person who loves listening to people, giving advice and interacting with others in any way possible.

Despite her usual optimistic outlook on the world around her, Maria is currently facing an eviction and experiencing a lot of financial difficulty. A tough situation in itself, let alone whilst trying to look after her two young children.

Not having the network or financial resources to job hunt herself, support from Beam will enable Maria to complete her dream of getting back on her feet in the world of childcare and to return to education and finish her degree in Child Psychology. Her long-term life goal is to one day work in children’s centres organising events, combining both her passions of looking after children and events planning.

Martin’s Story

Having been sacked from his job, Martin felt he had little hope. His confidence levels went down, he turned to drugs as a method to cope and ended up sleeping rough on the streets.

However, things have since turned around. With the support from various organisations, Martin’s mental health has started to improve and is gradually getting back on track, including moving off the streets and into his own property.

Despite this amazing news, he cannot reach his career and financial goals alone. Knowing that there are many generous people out there who want to help gives Martin back that spark of hope he once lost.
